Sambar is one of the most popular of recent trending meals on earth. It's simple, it is quick, it tastes yummy. It is enjoyed by millions every day. They're nice and they look fantastic. Sambar is something which I have loved my entire life.
To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook sambar using 27 ingredients and 12 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.
The ingredients needed to make Sambar:

- {Make ready 4-6 of garlic cloves.
- {Prepare 1-1.5 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds.
- {Take of Spices:.
- {Get 2-3 teaspoon of sambar powder.
- {Take Half of teaspoon turmeric.
- {Make ready 2 teaspoon of red chili powder.
- {Make ready of Quarter teaspoon asafoetida.
- {Make ready of Other:.
- {Make ready 2-3 cups of tamarind broth.
- {Prepare 3 sprigs of curry leaves.
- {Take Half of cup cilantro.
- {Prepare of Jaggery/sugar (to taste).
Instructions to make Sambar:
- Wash and strain the dal at least 3 times then soak dal in water for 1 hour.
- Pressure cook dal with 2 cups water (12 mins or 3 whistles).
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds, fenugreek, cumin, garlic, dried red chili, garlic and saute till fragrant.
- Add all the veggies and mix well for about 5 mins. Add salt..
- Add 0.5x turmeric, 2x red chili, 2x sambar powder, 0.25 asafoetida.
- Add enough tamarind broth to barely cover the veggies and some water.
- Add jaggery/sugar.
- Bring the broth to a boil.
- Add curry leaves.
- Add pressure cooked dal.
- Add salt to taste.
- Bring to boil and add cilantro.
